Support the Caltech Library

The Caltech Library partners with faculty, students, and staff across the Institute in the creation, dissemination, and discovery of knowledge by providing access to collections and repositories, research and instruction support, publication services, and preservation of data and archival materials.

Maintaining a world-class library requires continuous investment. As technology evolves and the demand for digital resources increases, we need your support to ensure that our library remains at the forefront of learning and discovery. We’ve listed some ways you could support the Library below, but we’re always open to your suggestions!

  • A $1,000 contribution would help the Library prioritize equitable access to various technologies and equipment, including rapid prototyping. In partnership with campus constituencies, the TechHub makes technology, both hardware and software, available to members of the Caltech community and provides support and instruction on use.

  • A $5,000 contribution would allow us to buy iPads for First-Year Success Research Institute (FSRI) and low-income students. Our strategic goal of equity and inclusion extends to incoming students who may need help with access to technology tools that will facilitate educational progress.

  • A $10,000 contribution would support the work of our E-resource Services Librarian and other staff as they purchase books and other course materials used in Caltech classes. The Library makes resources, such as textbooks and technology, available to members of the Caltech community who would not otherwise have access. Course reserves are a vital service we provide to students, relieving some of the burden of buying textbooks.

  • A $25,000 contribution would assist the Caltech Archives in making accessible the institutional records, personal papers, documents, artifacts and pictorial materials that tell the school's history through public exhibits. Such exhibits promote learning outside of standard textbooks, bringing our shared campus history to life and enabling a deeper connection to the past.

  • A $50,000 contribution would finance the math research collection for one year, a collection that essentially serves as the laboratory for mathematicians. Supporting this collection offers researchers access to specialized mathematical theory, research, and data, allowing them to further their knowledge and solve complex mathematical problems.
