microPublication Biology

The Caltech Library is proud to serve as the publisher of microPublication Biology, an innovative open-access journal that reimagines what scientific publishing can and should be. microPublication Biology provides a streamlined, peer-reviewed venue for brief yet meaningful scientific contributions that often fall outside the scope of traditional journals.

The journal welcomes novel observations, negative results, reproduced findings, methodological refinements, and other focused contributions that advance biological knowledge in valuable ways. These types of results are critical for enhancing reproducibility, avoiding duplication of effort, and ensuring that no useful data are left behind.

Each submission undergoes rigorous peer review, and when applicable, curatorial review, to ensure compatibility with community knowledge bases. This unique aspect of microPublication Biology helps align published findings with curated biological databases, supporting data integration, reuse, and discoverability—core principles of FAIR science (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

As a Caltech Library publication, microPublication Biology embodies our commitment to supporting open science, research integrity, and inclusive scholarly communication. All published articles are:

  • Citable and permanently archived
  • Indexed in PubMed, PubMed Central (PMC), EuropePMC, and Google Scholar
  • Discoverable through library discovery services around the world

We invite researchers at Caltech and beyond to explore, read, and contribute to microPublication Biology—a journal built to ensure that every meaningful data point can find a place in the scholarly record.
