TechHub: TechLab Policies

TechLab Policies

By using our service, you agree to the following:

  • I will not print any weapons or offensive material
  • I will not stop another user's job mid-print to start my own
  • I will not occupy more than one printer at a time, unless by special request
  • I will not use excessive slicing settings that consume unnecessary material and time (Printing large objects at 20 micron or with 100% infill, etc.)
  • I will examine my model and settings carefully before slicing to GCODE
  • I will observe and confirm the entire first layer has printed successfully and is well-adhered to the bed before leaving the lab
  • I will contact techlab@library.caltech.edu when issues arise
  • I will exercise safety when handling hot or sharp objects
  • I will clean up after myself
  • I understand that I am free to explore the technology, but in the event the machines are operating at capacity, priority will be given to research and class-related projects (by 24-hour advanced request and upon Techlab admin approval only)
  • I understand that the Techlab cannot guarantee the availability of printers or the success of my print

Failure to abide by the policy may result in the loss of Techlab privileges. Contact us for any questions or concerns.
