How to reset a loaned iPad before returning it to the library.

Preparations and Reset Instructions

Your first steps before resetting your loaner iPad should be backing up any personal data you wish to keep, as well as disassociating it from your personal account.

 

Go to Settings iPad Settings icon, and select iCloud Settings (top item on left navigation pane)

Click on “This iPad” in the list on the right, then click “Find My iPad” Find My icon.

Turn off Find My iPad (you may be prompted for your Apple ID password)

Click “iCloud Backup” iCloud Backup icon

Click “Back Up Now” (optional)

 

While still in Settings, go to iTunes & App Stores App Store icon

Click on “Apple ID: <your username>”

Click “Sign Out”

 

You should also disable Touch ID & Passcode iPad Touch ID icon

Enter Passcode (if you set one)

Click “Turn Passcode Off” (you may be prompted for your Apple ID password)

Enter current Passcode

 

 

To reset the iPad to factory defaults, go to Settings and click General

Click "Reset"

Click "Erase All Content and Settings"

confirm by clicking "Erase"

 

The iPad should now be ready to return, using the original packaging to box up the iPad and Apple Pencil.
