ADS (Astrophysics Data System)
The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a Digital Library portal for researchers in Astronomy and Physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant.
If you use the Astrophysics Data System, you should create a personal account. After, it's worth setting your preferences so that our library's subscriptions are accessible when you're searching in ADS. You can set this up when you're logged in to your ADS account. If you don't do this you'll be limited to only the free full text posted in ADS. You'll not get links to the journals that the Library pays for.
To configure ADS, go to 'account,' then select 'settings.' Click on 'Library Link Server' on the left side of the page. Use the drop down menu to select "California Institute of Technology" as your home institution. Once you've saved your settings, you'll see 'My Institution' links on abstract pages. This link will take you to our library's full text access to journal articles.
For more information, please visit our FAQ on configuring ADS.
Sometimes, the 'journal query page' may help. Note that this query page only provides access to articles that have been scanned by ADS.
To search by journals, visit the journal search page. ADS uses what is called a bibstem, which is used for identifying a journal. Here is the full list of all the journal abbreviations.
This is not a comprehensive list. Please search for additional titles using the catalog or PubFinder. You can also search using keywords, such as 'planetary' in PubFinder. Links are proxied, please sign-in with your access credentials if prompted.
The Planetary Science Budget Dataset integrates the spending history, by year, of every NASA planetary science mission and related activities.
