Chemistry & Chemical Engineering (CCE): Professional Development

The Hixon Writing Center has professional tutors, under the direction of Dr. Susanne Hall, to help you at any stage in the writing process. It is located on the third floor of the Center for Student Services building.

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Outreach supports Caltech's multifaceted educational efforts, including undergraduate and graduate courses and curricula, formal and informal learning, and partnerships with PreK-12 teachers and students.

Updated in 2020, the Guide provides students, researchers, educators, and librarians with the instruction and advice they need to master the art of scholarly communication. This Guide covers everything from classic journal authoring topics (now completely modernized) such as Organization of Your Article and Peer Review, to styling conventions needed for all scholarly communication, such as Chemical Nomenclature and Effective Writing and Word Usage, to emerging areas of interest in scholarly communication, including Open Access & Open Science, Sharing Data, Communicating Safety Information, and Preprints.
