MDL CrossFire Commander V6

Notes:

You will need the following information to successfully complete this installation and use Commander.

User ID -- xfcaltec
Password -- spi4-s29
Group name -- caltech
host address: crossfire-acad.elsevier.com

1. Download the self-extracting file to a temporary directory on your hard drive. By launching this file, the install wizard will be initiated.

2. If you have previous versions of Commander installed, the installer will allow you to remove them before continuing.

3. After the uninstall of previous versions is complete, the installer will continue. You can choose the defaults for file locations etc.

4. For new installations, you will be asked for the following:

Host address: beilstein.library.wisc.edu
License Group Name: caltech

6. The installer now has all the information it needs. You may finish the installation.

7. You will be asked for your User ID (xfcaltec) and Password (spi4-s29) when you launch Commander and initiate a connection.

8. In the xf.ini file ... change the LITLINK=Yes to LITLINK=No .

This ini file is located at c:\program files\mdl CrossFire commander v6\xf.ini
LITLINK is an add-on product to which Caltech does not subscribe.

In the xf.ini file ... AUTONOM=YES.

If YES is entered then the blue AutoNom button is visible in the MDL CrossFire Commander interface.

Use of Crossfire Commander is restricted to currently enrolled students and currently affiliated faculty and staff at the California Institute of Technology.
