Introduction to CaltechTHESES for Staff
Do you work with graduate students who are working on their thesis? Did you know that electronic copies of theses must be submitted to CaltechTHESIS as part of the PhD graduation requirement? How often do you get questions about formatting, printing, or binding theses? Do you maintain web pages that include information about theses? This class is geared toward option coordinators or other Caltech staff who work with graduate students or their theses, but is open to anyone interested on campus. We will give you an overview of the CaltechTHESIS database (http://thesis.library.caltech.edu), brief you on the steps the students need to take to deposit their thesis, and touch on intellectual property considerations and access. We will also give you tips on using the information in the database to populate your web page more effectively.

The technical issues preventing access to article pdfs on the Elsevier Science Direct platform have now been resolved. Licensed journal content on this platform is now accessible.
Thank you for your patience!
Caltech is currently unable to download article pdfs from the ScienceDirect platform. HTML versions of articles are accessible where available. Not all licensed journal content has an HTML version. The Caltech Library is currently in contact with Elsevier in order to have this issue resolved as quickly as possible.
We will update as soon as there is progress. Thank you for your patience while this problem is addressed.
The Library has recently had several enquiries from Caltech authors who have submitted manuscripts to journals in the Nature Publishing Group (NPG). NPG is aware of Caltech’s Open Access Policy that was implemented 1/1/2014. Upon acceptance and before publication of a paper, NPG is requiring a waiver from each Caltech author. The waiver is available here. As well, there is a FAQ page with details about the implementation of this new policy. If you have further questions, please email a librarian at library AT caltech.edu
