The Slowing: Earth’s Atmospheric Circulation & The Age of Miracles

One City, One Story 2013


Friends of the Caltech Libraries and Pasadena Public Library’s One City, One Story present a conversation on The Slowing:  Earth’s Atmospheric Circulation and The Age of Miracles, Friday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. in Baxter Lecture Hall.

Age of Miracles’ author Karen Thompson Walker will join Caltech Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, Simona Bordoni, and Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Director of the Caltech Counseling Center, Lee Coleman, in a discussion relating to themes in The Age of Miracles including atmospheric circulation patterns, the slowing of Earth’s rotation, and the psychological effects of catastrophic change on various characters and age groups in the novel.

2/18 Presidents’ Day Hours

On Monday, the library will require ID at all hours. For Caltech students, faculty and staff SFL will continue to be open 24 hours; Millikan and Dabney will be open 9am – 1am.

January 2013 New Books and Journals Lists

The lists of new books and journals added to the libraries’ collections during the month of January 2013 are now available. This month’s book list includes book cover images for many items, and links to Amazon to allow you to browse the books electronically. Please note that we provide no guarantee that Amazon has contracted with the publisher to allow viewers to browse specific books.

Access to most Wiley journals restored

We have access to most of our subscribed Wiley journals again. There are two exceptions: Political Science Quarterly and Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. We hope to have access to those journals restored soon.

Access Issues with Wiley Journals

We are currently experiencing problems accessing 2013 Wiley content. Library staff are in touch with the publisher and we hope that our access problems are resolved soon. Angewandte Chemie International Edition is one of the many affected titles.
