SFL Summer Construction

The 1st floor (south side) of the Sherman Fairchild Library will be under construction from Monday, July 23rd, 2007 until Monday, September 17th, 2007.

Group study rooms 2-1 and 2-2, the MCR on the 3rd floor, and most of the public work stations will still be accessible.  The elevator will also be available.

However, group study rooms 2-3, 2-4, and 3-2 will not be available for use.

Also, a new fire door will be installed on the 3rd floor of the SFL. The installation will take approximately 20 days and will be done within the above mentioned time frame.  The stairwell between the 2nd and 3rd floors will not be accessible during the fire door installation.

Please note you will still be able to contact all Sherman Fairchild Library staff via their office phone numbers and their email addresses during normal office hours.  This includes our IT people should you need assistance with any public computers.

There will be dust and noise during this time period, with various construction personnel working in the area from approximately 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.  While we hope to keep the SFL open 24/7, the south side of the 1st floor will be off-limits 24/7 as it will be a construction site.

The updated area will include much needed re-configured staff offices with space for an IT work room and IT office, and a new receiving area and staff lounge.  The HVAC will also be updated.  We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction.

Dabney Library – North Door

The north door to the Dabney Library will be closed/locked all day on Monday, July 9th, 2007 to accommodate work being done to the floor area around the door and the security gates.

Dabney Library will still be accessible through the south door, but be advised that there will be noise on the first floor library area during the day.
