Rehabilitation of Sherman Fairchild Library Group Study Rooms

The 2nd floor of the Sherman Fairchild Library will be a construction site from Friday, June 9, 2006 to Tuesday, August 8, 2006 due to the rehabilitation of the group study rooms.

Our Caltech students have been enjoying the ambiance of the Sherman Fairchild Library for almost ten years. They have consistently made reference to the fact that use of SFL group study rooms are an important part of their college routine.

The increased popularity of these rooms has meant students are sometimes unable to book a room because it is already reserved. Therefore the Library has decided to not only upgrade our existing group study rooms on the 2nd floor of the SFL (with state-of-the-art multimedia capabilities), but to add two additional group study rooms as well. We are also making the rooms more user friendly to allow students to bring in food and beverages.

The Sherman Fairchild Library will stay open during construction. The elevator will be operational, the MCR and the group study room on the 3rd floor will remain available for use.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the dust and noise, but know the students will appreciate the enhanced atmosphere created by the rehabilitation of the Sherman Fairchild Library.
