Data Carpentry workshop draws researchers from across the Caltech Divisions

Excitement builds at the Caltech Library as we welcome 30 Data Carpenters this week from Chem, Geo, Bio, GeoBio, Astro, Physics, and Eng. Led by eminent data scientists Tracy Teal and Titus Brown (both Caltech alumni), the sell-out workshop will provide hands on training in Open Science tools for cleaning, organizing, and publishing research data. More information will be posted about the Data Carpentry curriculum and lessons learned this week.

The Caltech Library’s growing services in Research Data Management include assistance with Data Management Plans; referrals to the best data centers and repositories for publishing and archiving research data; advising on the legal status of data and licensing data for reuse; Help with citing and publishing data; and working with funding agencies and publishers to clarify data access and publication requirements.
