Reaxys/DiscoveryGate/SciFinder Web presented by Dana Roth

Thursday, October 14

2:00-3:00pm

Sherman Fairchild Library, Multimedia Conference Room 328

Reaxys:

The new web interface to Beilstein, Gmelin and Elsevier’s Patent Chemistry database.

It runs on both MACs and PCs and will replace both the Crossfire client software and DiscoveryGate access at the end of 2010.

Caltech will continue to have access to Beilstein and Gmelin thru all three interfaces until then.

DiscoveryGate:

A search/display interface to a multi-database collection that includes both Beilstein and Gmelin thru 2010.

It also includes numerous specialty databases (such as MDDR, Comprehensive Medicinal Chemistry, NCI database) that can be searched individually or as a group.

SciFinder Web:

The new web interface to SciFinder (Chemical Abstracts Service).

In addition to chemistry and chemical engineering, SciFinder’s coverage extends to the chemical aspects of biology, environmental engineering, geology, materials science, medicine, and physics.

It runs on both MACs and PCs and will replace the SciFinder Scholar client in June 2011.
